Program Proposals for Library-Sponsored Events

The Ridgewood Public Library provides programming for all ages throughout the year. We welcome proposals for unbiased, non-partisan programs which support our mission and which complement our collections, services and goals. Please check our Program Policy for details. If your program isn't the right fit for us we also offer room rentals.

Programs are accepted based on the following schedule. Programs are considered on a first come first served basis. Applications submitted after the deadline will be considered for the following quarter.

Types of programs we sponsor

  • Performances

  • Films & Discussion

  • Workshops

  • Lectures

  • Careers

  • Author events*

  • Health

  • Children & Teen Programs

  • And other educational, recreational or cultural activities.

*If you want to give an author event, your book first needs to be included in the BCCLS catalog and added to the RPL collection. To have your title considered, please provide our Assistant Director with a copy of the book and at least one positive review from a professional journal (i.e. Library Journal, Booklist, Kirkus, Publishers Weekly).

What you need to know about Library-sponsored programs

  • Your event needs to be free and open to the public.

  • You’ll need to allow at least four months before the program date for library planning and publicity (see chart above).

  • You may not sell products or services during presentations at the Library. However, with prior arrangement, we may allow the sale of works by presenters such as books or music immediately before or after the presentation with the Library receiving 20% of proceeds.
