Roberta Panjwani

Assistant Director

Before joining RPL in 2000, Roberta worked at the Paley Center for Media in NYC for ten years. A certified teacher, Roberta formerly served as Children’s Dept. Supervisor & Adult Services Supervisor at the Library. She is passionate about the arts, skiing and travel. Roberta created and runs the annual Reel Voices Film Festival (since 2003), curates the Martha Glaser Culture Series and co-created the On Book Play Reading Series and several other initiatives with the Library and its partners. Roberta created and hosts the library's podcast, "A Bend in the Road."

Lorri Steinbacher

Assistant Director

Lorri is our Assistant Director and the purchaser of adult books and music. She is an avid reader and devours all things pop culture—literary/historical fiction, alternative music, Broadway, memoirs, and feminist fiction and essays are her particular interest. She’s seen "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" 12 times so far and is not even a little embarrassed. Helping people find their next favorite book is the best part of her job.

Alexander Wasenda

Alexander graduated from Rutgers University with a B.S. in Finance, later obtaining his M.A. in History. He handles the library finances and in his free time you can find him in his vegetable garden.

Nancy Haab

Nancy was formerly a librarian at a NYC law firm prior to joining the RPL staff in 1996 as a Reference Librarian. She enjoys travel, tennis, and knitting.

Jin Lee

A former magazine editor/writer, Jin enjoys reading, rooting for Ridgewood teams and planning family vacations. She still reads a daily newspaper and is trying to instill the habit in her 3 children (failing miserably). And as testament to her loyalty and willingness to persevere against all odds: she’s a Mets fan.

Victoria Hilditch

Adult Services Supervisor/ESL Program Coordinator

Victoria has found her calling in becoming a librarian. She believes in welcoming all to the library and providing the services and information that they need. Victoria received her MLIS from Rutgers in 2015. She is both a reference librarian and the coordinator for the library’s well-established Adult ESL program and the library’s Great Decisions world policy discussion group. A lover of needlework, Victoria knits, sews and has now found needlepoint which has cut into her reading time since she is more of a written word reader.

Sarah Kiefer

Local History/Reference, Librarian, Dept. Head

Sarah works with the Reference team, but primarily in the Bolger Heritage Center for local history and genealogy. Her role allows her to research history, which she loves, and also assist others in finding the information they seek. Sarah encourages you to stop by and stump her with a history question.

Larissa Brookes

Larissa answers reference and reader’s advisory questions for patrons of all ages, plans and runs multigenerational programs, supports the Library's ESL department, and develops the adult and children's world language collections. If you have graphic novel suggestions (for adults or teens), Larissa is your librarian. In her spare time she washes and prepares vegetables from her family's farm shares. Larissa has an MLIS from San Jose State University and a rusty JD from Boston College.

Jacquelyn Deppe

Jacquelyn Deppe has a B.A. in Art, Design and Interactive Multimedia from Seton Hall University, a Masters of Information from Rutgers University, and has been working in a library environment since 2014. When she's not in a library or doing something art related, you can find her outside, hiking, or trail running, the many trails New Jersey/New York have to offer! She always has a suggestion at the ready and is excited to talk about hiking and trails both known and unknown.

Janine Lanzisera

Raised in New York, Janine has also lived in England, Italy and Scotland. Her travels led to a love and strong appreciation for cultural diversity and the fascinating backgrounds of various communities. Janine holds a BA in Speech Pathology and MA in Communications. She is very happy to work with RPL’s ESL team and highly regards the relationships she shares with the program’s students.

Marrin O'Neill

Libraries have always been one of Marrin's safe spaces and they graduated from patron to employee in 2015. They earned a BS in political science at Northeastern University in Boston and a master's in gender studies at University College Dublin in Ireland. Ask them about manga, mysteries, and retellings of Pride and Prejudice. When not at the library, Marrin enjoys their ten-year-old house rabbit, Basil, Kpop girl groups, and vegan junk food.

Elias Rosner

Elias has been working on and off with the Ridgewood Library since 2013. A 2018 graduate of Goucher College and a 2020 graduate of Drexel's MLIS program, he's pretty tired of writing essays but not tired enough to stop writing bios like these. He can be found somewhere between the Reference, Circulation and Tech departments and is a key person in coordinating our quarterly Computer Class programs. Ask him for comic recs! He reads a lot of them.

Claire Saal

Claire has been happily serving a wide variety of school and public libraries since 2010. When she is not helping patrons, you can usually find her curled up with her two cats reading the newest graphic novel or medieval history book.

Victoria has a background in non-profit administration and development, foreign language, and education as well as holding a dual degree in French and Russian from Bryn Mawr College and an MA in Education from the University of Michigan. Her first experience with the RPL was with her oldest son in Baby & Me Storytime. Now, 15 years, and 3 children later, she is delighted to be part of the Children's Department staff and to bring her education background, love of foreign languages & travel, and extensive work with multicultural communities to the ESL department.

With a B.A. in psychology, she might just be analyzing you from time to time.

Deborah Alejandra Popowski

Deborah divides her time between the children's room and the Bolger Heritage Center, a dream combo for a lover of stories, pictures, and archives. When she's not filling your arms with book suggestions, she's making book lists or working on her LIS degree at Rutgers. Before deciding to break her promise to never go back to school (again), she was a human rights lawyer and educator.

Justin received her MLS from Drexel University in 2012. She is a zealous reader of young adult books, a baker at heart, and has a soft spot for puppies. You will often find her nose buried in a book or hands deep in a Pinterest project. She is eagerly awaiting her acceptance letter from Hogwarts but until then she will enjoy her time being a YA librarian.

Kayleigh Barbarulo

With a B.A. in English and World Literatures from Marymount Manhattan College and an M.S. in Publishing from Pace University, to say that Kayleigh's love of books runs deep would be an understatement! A firm believer that stories change lives, especially for children, Kayleigh's literary interests are mostly focused on the children's/YA realm, though she'll read anything she finds interesting or compelling. She also has a background in theatre, and loves to read plays as much as perform in or direct them and has a special interest in Shakespeare as his works. Kayleigh is an aspiring publishing professional, so if you ever want to know anything about how books get published please don't hesitate to ask! You can find her in the children's department, getting distracted by interesting books while reshelving them.

Rosa Pangilinan

Rosa is a Slytherin, a Martell, and a would-have-been resident of Athena’s Cabin. She received her B.A. in History and English Literature from Rutgers University and is pursuing an M.A. in Historical Studies from The New School. When she’s not buried in writing, research, good books, costume designing, graphic design projects, and occasionally disastrous cooking experiments, you can find her in the Youth Services department of RPL, talking about what she loves most: YA books.
